How it started
While attending the Fashion Institute of Technology
in New York City, Jules managed and ran a boutique back home.
She fell in love with the hustle of having to do everything yourself from buying merchandise at trade shows, to arranging visuals for the windows, to styling clients for events and making personal connections with her customers that wouldn’t be possible in big box stores.
and focusing on one day working for one of the major commercial stores in NYC, Jules realized that she didn’t want to work for someone else, but wanted to live and work by her own rules.
She also wanted to help support other small businesses in the process, so she launched her dream of “the chain”.
After studying the fashion industry’s habits and working in the corporate fashion world, Jules was distraught by the giant carbon footprint it left.
the chain, Jules wanted to emphasize values
that she as a consumer would want to shop and support herself: merchandise from women owned & run companies, that are ethically made, with fair trade practices towards employees, merchandise that is all sustainably made, small batch, and never ever mass produced.
While using sustainable practices in her daily life, Jules found it hard to find cool, stylish clothing that was eco friendly and leave her feeling the need to take out a loan for a new wardrobe .So she created the chain to change that.
The chain is inspired by the natural world around us, music, and vintage styles.
When Jules isn’t buying merchandise, at a pop up or engaging with customers on Instagram for the chain, she enjoys traveling, spin class, and food- from cooking to trying new restaurants.
Jules currently lives with her chiweenie , Lola, in the Hudson valley region of New York.
